Wastewater Systems - Recent Project
AP prepared a Wastewater Facilities Plan Update and provided design and construction engineering services to bring the City of Vale’s wastewater treatment system into compliance with Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) requirements. After the DEQ evaluated the City’s wastewater treatment lagoons, the agency raised concerns about the impact of the lagoon treatment system on the surrounding environment, and AP worked with the City to design new treatment lagoons (pictured above) as well as a new headworks facility, new piping, a new irrigation pump station, and distribution and pivot irrigation systems. AP also developed several cost-reducing recommendations for the project work, including reducing the storage volume to lower construction costs, using locally available material to provide a less expensive liner, and changing the slope (hence reducing the volume of excavated material) to save $250,000 in construction costs.
