Survey - Recent Project
In its role as the general construction contractor, Wildish Standard Paving Company hired the AP survey crew to serve as a subconsultant for the Hilgard interchange bridge replacement project, which is a part of the Oregon Bridge Delivery Partners’ Bundle 206. AP survey crews were tasked with providing construction staking services in support of the replacement of one Bundle 206 bridge structure and reconstruction of an underpass and road approaches for another Bundle 206 structure on Interstate 84. One of the tasks involved was completing construction for the Hilgard interchange bridge structure pictured here. Although the bridge structure is not large, the complicated geometry of the bridge replacement design presented challenges for the survey team. The survey crew members shown working in these photos are grading the deck beams to estimate the load to be applied to the beams when the concrete bridge deck is poured. This crucial staking task ensures that the proper camber, or upward curve, is provided to the finished bridge deck.
