Development - Recent Project

A year after The Collins Companies broke ground on the project, the new Collins Pacific Albus hardwood sawmill in Boardman opened in October 2008 and brought approximately 85 family- wage jobs to Morrow County. The $35 million state-of-the-art Collins Upper Columbia Mill will produce 100 million board feet per year of Pacific Albus lumber, which is used for Venetian blinds, picture frames, slats for suspended ceilings, molding, and furniture. Thanks to sustainable forest practices and green design features, the mill, one of the largest hardwood sawmills in the nation, will be able to anticipate on a yearly basis the amount of wood available for processing and will never run out of logs. AP performed services to provide survey topography; civil site design for water, fire protection, sewer laterals, drainfields/stormwater management, pressure sewer, and site grading; construction engineering during the six-month construction schedule; and construction staking services for both the sawmill site at the tree farm on Pole Line Road and the planer (finishing) mill site at the Port of Morrow.
