Position: Temporary Survey Technician
Location: La Grande, Oregon
Position Type: Part-Time and Temporary
Base Pay: $9-12 / hour

Responsibilities

This position will be responsible for assisting field survey crews with various field tasks.  This is a temporary position.  Work is anticipated from mid-September 2010 through November 2010.  Work will involve travel and overnight stays lasting from 2 to 5 days.  Workdays will be long and range between 8 to 12 hours.  Some duties may include:  preparing survey instruments and work truck for daily tasks, setting hubs and survey monuments, and maintaining survey supplies.

Requirements

This is an entry level position with on the job training provided.  This position is for a field crew member and will require the ability to work outdoors at multiple project sites, and to perform survey tasks in less-than-ideal weather conditions. Candidates must have the ability to communicate directly with staff and clients.  Because our team utilizes the latest surveying technology, a working knowledge of basic computer skills is required.   The ability to setup survey equipment and a background in construction would be of benefit, but is not required.  This position has physical demands typical of a field survey crew member; therefore, the successful candidate will need to demonstrate their ability to perform these tasks.  The ability to lift and carry 50 pounds is required and walk two to four miles during a typical workday.  A valid driver’s license is also required for this position.
