Position: Senior Natural Resources Specialist
Location: La Grande, Oregon
Position Type: Full-Time
Base Pay: $53,000 to $67,000 (Base Salary-Depending on Qualifications)

Responsibilities

This position will require both field and office work on diverse public and private projects.  The Senior Natural Resources Specialist will perform a variety of duties including, but not limited to, the following:

Department Management

The position requires the management of several department personnel, and project oversight including project budgeting, project scoping and project scheduling.  The position will also be expected to seek out and market new business opportunities.

Biological Services

ESA Documentation for Threatened and Endangered Species

  • Biological Assessments and No-effect Letters

Fish, Wildlife, and Plant Surveys

  • Threatened or Endangered Species Surveys
  • Plant Surveys

Monitoring Services

  • Avian Surveys, Nest Location, and Monitoring
  • Construction and Post-construction Monitoring

Permitting and Regulatory Compliance

  • Clean Water Act Compliance
  • Water Quality Certifications
  • Federal and State Environmental Policy Act Compliances
  • ESA Compliance Documentation
  • Section 106 Compliance Documentation
  • National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Compliance Documentation
  • Environmental Reports
  • Categorical Exclusions
  • Environmental Assessments
  • Environmental Impact Statements
  • Removal/Fill Applications
  • Water Quality Certifications

Wetlands

  • Wetland Delineations
  • Wetland Mitigation and Restoration Plans
  • Wetland Monitoring
  • Permitting

Fisheries and Wildlife Services

  • Biological Assessments and No-effect Letters
  • Migratory Bird Treaty Act Compliance
  • Fish Salvage

General

  • Coordinate with internal and external clients to develop solutions
  • Negotiate project changes and mitigation measures with state and federal officials
  • Verbal and written communication with internal and external stakeholders

Requirements

To apply for this position, a candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree with major course work in natural science, environmental science, biology, or a related field and 5+ years experience in natural resource project management, environmental analysis, data collection, ESA documentation, or other related experience.  The ideal candidate will be able to communicate verbally and in writing with a variety of people to answer questions and explain information.  The candidate must be able to write clear and concise technical reports, permit applications, etc.
